During setting, the shank deforms behind the material to form a blind-side head. This clamps the Tubtara® securely in place, after which the internal thread is immediately ready for bolt assembly.

Typical applications include sheet-metal housings, profiles, machine components and vehicle structures. Tubtara® blind rivet nuts can also be used in composites and engineering plastics.

A Tubtara® is also an attractive option when welding is undesirable due to heat input, distortion or potential damage to a coating. For maintenance or replacement, the bolted joint can be reopened without reworking the base component.

The total material thickness determines the required grip range. If the thickness falls outside this range, the Tubtara® may not clamp sufficiently or deform correctly.

The combination of hole shape and shank shape determines resistance to spinning. At the same time, the head style must suit the available space and provide sufficient support on the material surface.

The material and surface treatment must also be suited to the mechanical load and the corrosive environment. This keeps the joint reliable throughout its intended service life.

A closed-end shank seals the path through the blind rivet nut, but does not automatically seal the interface between the head and the material. A suitable seal under the head may be required for this second leakage path.

The required sealing performance also depends on the grip range, hole diameter, hole quality and surface condition of the material. A correctly matched solution reduces the risk of leakage, damage and rework.
